Dr Matthew Woo
Dr Matthew Woo is the principal consultant clinical psychologist and director of Riverlife Psychology. He was formerly in the employment of the Institute of Mental Health for 19 years and held the position of Senior Principal Clinical Psychologist and Deputy Head of the Department of Psychology. He is the recipient of two Health Manpower Development Program fellowship awards for Community Psychiatry (Los Angeles and Chicago, in 2003) and Sex Offender Interventions (Portland, in 2010).
Dr Matthew has been featured for his work with Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy in the local media that has included the Straits Times, Lianhe Wanbao, Lianhe Zaobao. He has been published widely in many international journals and continues to lecture as an adjunct associate professor with the local universities.
Dr Matthew has also been featured on Channel News Asia (CNA) on Sunday 27 March at 9.00pm about what he does with EMDR; the telecast of the episode is titled "Wired Differently" and produced onsite at Core Collective Anson.

Dr Matthew is the founder president of EMDR Singapore in 2010-2012 and has been a facilitator with the EMDR Institute since 2011. He has also undertaken the Basic and Masters Level Training for EMDR therapy from 2007-2012 and is the President of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) Asia, an organisation that upholds the standards and training of EMDR therapy across Asia. He continues to teach at the National University of Singapore on the Psychotherapy program as an Adjunct A/Prof.
Eugene is an adjunct lecturer at various schools which offer approved psychology and counselling training programmes, from Diploma to Masters Levels.
Eugene has extensive experience in working with youth with mental health needs in psychiatric rehabilitation and educational institutions. Eugene also worked in clinical settings in hospitals and rehabilitation centres provides clinical counselling and group therapy for patients with Schizophrenia, Depression & Anxiety disorders. He uses an array of psychometric tools to assess the functionality of an individual. His therapeutic approach mainly revolves around post-modern concepts, brief work with clients through the theories of SFBT and CTRT. Other approaches like Schema therapy, EMDR, and Erkisonian Hypnosis were used appropriately.
He provides two certification courses for participants who are keen on personality and marital issues, as a seminar director for Prepare/Enrich Accreditation, a psychometric instrument for couples and T-JTA trainer for couples’ personality profiling. In couples counselling, he utilized the Gottman approach in the intervention.
Besides the clinical aspects, he was involved as one of the pioneers in the setup of the Hope counselling services under Hope Centre (Singapore).
In addition, he is also the founding member/committee member for the Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors Singapore (APACS) and the ex-board member of Family Life First (FLF). He is a full member of the Singapore Psychological Society (SPS), International Member of Australia Counselling Association (ACA) & APACS-L4S. He is also a registered supervisor with ACA & APACS.
