Besides being a fun workout that challenges the core, body strength and balance, Pilates matwork also helps to improve posture and trains mindfulness and body awareness without the need for Pilates apparatus such as a Reformer bed.
Pilates matwork exercises may incorporate the use of small props such as yoga blocks, resistance bands and foam rollers to enhance your workout to either further challenge yourself in certain poses, or by giving you some support for slightly easier modifications especially to aid those nursing the recovery of recent injuries.
