Establishing a strong presence on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram requires some level of planning, so if you’re not already building a feed using a social media calendar, you might want to start there. If you have got your social media content calendar template sorted, you can start filling it in with content pillars to embellish your feed!

“A content pillar is a subset of topics or themes which create the foundation for your overall content strategy.”

Need some content pillar ideas for your fitness or wellness business’ social media page? You’ve come to the right place. Read on!

1. Informational

As fitness and wellness professionals, you have a wealth of knowledge and expertise that are gold to the general public.

Share information that value-adds to others and has the power to improve their quality of life. Examples of informative posts can include workout routines or mindfulness tips expressed through digestible infographics, listicles or even videos.

In doing so, not only will you give people who stumble upon your posts with an incentive to give you a follow, but also start to build a reputation and recognition as an authority in the industry.

2. Inspirational

A strong and effective social media strategy connects your brand with followers through inspirational content because people are more likely to engage with content that they feel emotionally connected to. You can really shine through your inspirational posts by featuring real and relatable people or stories that will get people saying “I need to try this now!”.

Have clients whose lives you’ve changed drastically? Share their success stories or testimonials!

3. Entertainment

While informational and educational posts are a great pillar for social media, adding a little bit of personality and flair through entertainment posts are a great way to spice up your feed.

Posts under the entertainment pillar can include fitness or wellness challenges, funny memes, exciting giveaways or any other interactive activities that your followers can engage with.

4. Blog Articles

If you keep up with maintaining a blog on your business website (which we highly recommend you do for many great reasons, by the way), creating a pillar to share these articles on your social media in the form of micro-content is a great way to maximise your mileage on each article.

One of the ways you can do this is to create a simple and on-brand blog post template where you can easily replace the title and featured image to share every single time you publish a new article. Alternatively, take a few key pointers from your and create an infographic post.

Tip: When posting to inform your followers on a new blog post, don't forget to include a link in bio to direct them to it.

5. Promotional

If you’ve got any upcoming promotions, events, packages or programmes, use your social channel to post about it. If it’s something that will truly provide value to your followers, you can use this post as an opportunity to build awareness around it, generate some leads, plus people will be delighted to give you a follow if they know doing so will keep them well informed of any good deals or offerings you have.
