We offer physiotherapy services for various musculoskeletal conditions, including pain management, sports injuries, and post-surgical orthopaedic conditions. We also offer physiotherapy services for neurology conditions such as stroke and Parkinson’s diseases, as well as vestibular rehabilitation for patients with vestibular dysfunction.

Marvin Cheng, Principal Physiotherapist, Co-founder:
Marvin, a highly qualified professional, holds an honours degree from Cardiff University (UK) and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Montana. Specialising in musculoskeletal and sports therapy, he excels in conservative management and post-operative rehabilitation for knee, ankle, spinal, and shoulder injuries. He spearheaded the establishment of advanced shoulder services for sports return at SGH and served as a Team Physio for SEA games 2021. He co-founded Essential Physiotherapy in 2020 with Jiajie.

Jiajie Tan, Principal Physiotherapist, Co-founder :
Having worked as a physiotherapist since 2010, Jiajie is a veteran physiotherapist who specialises in musculoskeletal physiotherapy. After graduating with a Master’s degree at Curtin University, Australia in 2017, Jiajie founded Essential Physiotherapy with Marvin, and is now acting as the resident expert in sports injuries and post orthopaedic surgeries. She is also an Associate Faculty Member at Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), educating the next generation of physiotherapists in Singapore.

Gary Koh, Senior Physiotherapist:
Gary graduated at the top of his class with a 1st class Honours degree from Curtin University (Aus) and was awarded the Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Montana. Specializing in musculoskeletal and sports physiotherapy, he excels in conservative and post-operative rehabilitation for upper limb, lower limb and spinal-related injuries. Gary was the lead of the upper limb physiotherapy service in SGH, ensuring quality care to patients recovering from shoulder/elbow injuries and surgeries. Gary also served as a Team Physio for the SEA games in 2023.

Clement Liew, Senior Physiotherapist:
Clement has over a decade of experience in tertiary hospitals since 2014, specializing in geriatric care with a Master’s in Gerontology from King’s College London. He helped establish the Geriatric Emergency Medicine service at Woodlands Hospital, managing complex conditions in elderly patients. He led physiotherapy services for palliative wards at Woodlands and Yishun Community Hospital and developed rehabilitation programs for dementia and cognitive impairment patients. In 2023, he completed the Ministry of Health’s HMDP fellowship in Australia to develop a Falls, Frailty & Sarcopenia clinic. His background includes neurorehabilitation in acute stroke units and post-operative care. A certified advanced vestibular physiotherapy practitioner, Clement also served as the lead vestibular physiotherapist at Woodlands, providing training to departmental physiotherapists.
